About

Foundation

Grace Cottage School was founded in August 2022 and is the result of the Lord uniting several families in Oxford around a common vision. In January 2022, a planning committee of 9 moms that wanted to see this school started in Oxford convened, and they discussed all the various roles and responsibilities that would be needed to found a school. By the end of that meeting, three ladies offered to serve as directors and several other ladies offered to come alongside them and help in whatever ways were needed.

Curriculum

Grace Cottage School utilizes the My Father’s World curriculum written by David and Marie Hazell, former missionaries to Russia. This curriculum is Charlotte Mason influenced in K3-6th grade and Classically focused in grades 7-12. This gives children the opportunity to enjoy a gentler approach to education in the younger years with plenty of hands-on learning and outdoor exploration, which fosters a love for learning and inquisitive minds. The curriculum increases in rigor during middle school, and by high school, students are doing a Survey of the Old Testament alongside Ancient History and a Survey of the New Testament alongside World History along with corresponding literature and appropriate levels of math, science, and elective work.

Schedule

Grace Cottage School meets twice a week on Mondays and Wednesdays from 9:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. for every grade except high school, which meets until 3:00 p.m. Parents teach material not completed at school on Tuesdays and Thursdays at home and help their students complete assignments posted in Google Classroom. Fridays are reserved for testing at home and Grace Cottage School enrichment days, where students enjoy field trips, projects, and electives.

Tuition & Fees

Tuition for the 2024-2025 academic year is $2,200 for K3- high school. A monthly payment plan is available beginning as early as January 31, 2024 or tuition can be paid full by May 15, 2024. Tuition is non-refundable to ensure that teachers are paid in full at their contracted amount for the entire year regardless of whether enrollment fluctuates. There is also a non-refundable registration fee of $125. $50.00 of this registration fee funds school supplies such as paints, science specimens, and manipulatives, while the other $100 funds administrative expenses such as the website and other operating expenses. Grace Cottage School meets at a local church, so a small building fee is assessed each semester to ensure that the school has adequate liability insurance and the church is compensated for use of electricity, water, and toiletries.

Volunteers

Our mission is to ensure that parents are involved not only with their child’s education at home, but that they also serve during the school year. Parents are required to volunteer for a certain number of days throughout the school year to serve in the classrooms. If they are unable to volunteer due to a work or family commitment, they may pay a small volunteer fee to secure a volunteer in their place. Parents are also asked to serve on a committee that they feel fits their areas of giftedness in order to help the school run smoothly.
